The Aledo varsity tennis team took first place in 3 events at the Richland Rebel tennis tournament on March 24th, and they finished 2nd in the 14-team competition behind 6A Abilene High. Competing 6A schools included: Sherman, L.D. Bell, Denton High, Arlington Martin, Haltom, Abilene High, Keller Timber Creek and Weatherford. Competing 5A schools included: Aledo, Boswell, Birdville, and Chisholm Trail.
Taking first place in Boys’ singles was Jared Kelm beating Abilene High 8-6. Colby Crawford won the consolation draw beating LD Bell 8-2.
In Boys’
Doubles the pairing of Lance McClure / Miles Grubbs won first beating Abilene High 8-6. The pairing of Ben Colvin/James Young lost to Chisholm Trail 6-8 in their final match to take 7th overall.
Aledo also took first place in Mixed Doubles with the pairing of Nikki Adamie/Alec Meendsen beating Richland 8-4 in the final. The pairing of Alison Dale/Trey Fambrough lost their final match to Graham 6-8 and took fourth place.
In Girls’ Doubles the pairing of Priscilla Schimming/Erin Davis beat Chisholm Trail 8-3 to take 5th place.
The Aledo varsity tennis team plays in its final spring tournament at North Crowley on Friday March 31st in preparation for the District 6-5A tennis tournament at TCU April 3-4.
