The 2017 high school baseball season saw plenty of strong competition from within the boundaries of Parker County.

Putting together the list for the 2017 All Parker County team was especially tough considering how close the competition was between the different classes.

In 6A, Weatherford had another strong season and finished with an area round appearance against El Paso Montwood and a bi-district championship.

In 5A, Aledo fell in three games in the regional quarterfinals to eventual state finalist Grapevine.

Springtown finished with a record of 8-19-1 overall and came in fifth in the 7-4A standings.

Brock and Peaster had exceptional seasons on the 3A level.

Peaster went the farthest of any team in Parker County and fell in the 3A Region I Final to Wall, the same team that eliminated Brock in the regional semifinals.

The Eagles went into the playoffs undefeated in district play and had an exceptional season, as well.

Trinity Christian Academy also fared well in TAPPS competition and went undefeated in district before falling to Dallas Lutheran in the playoffs.

With a host of great athletes to choose from, the superlative honors are difficult to dish out.

The All Parker County MVP went to Evan Hafley, a junior from Peaster.

Hafley was instrumental in Peaster’s success this season.

On offense Hafley finished with a .522 batting average, 59 RBIs and 10 home runs.

Hafley pitched for Peaster, as well and was quite successful on the mound.

Hafley posted a 10-3 record pitching with 109 strikeouts over 78 innings pitched.

Weatherford’s Blake Burrows received the Offensive MVP.

Burrows’ bat was strong, but he was also big on the mound for the Roos.

On offense, Burrows recorded 41 hits and 29 runs.

He posted a batting average of .366 and had a slugging percentage of .429.

The Defensive MVP went to Brock’s Doc Bruner for his contributions in the field for the Eagles.

The Parker County Coach of the Year went to Peaster’s Lynn Grimes.

Lynn Grimes and his staff coached the Greyhounds to the regional finals and reached new heights for the Greyhounds.

Millsap had a tough year, but freshman catcher Thomas Jordan gets the nod for Newcomer of the Year for his contributions on the field for the Bulldogs.

Jordan was also named to the 7-3A All-district first team this season.

Brock sophomore Jase Lopez won the Pitcher MVP and was terrific on the mound all year for the Eagles.

Lopez pitched numerous complete games and was instrumental in the Eagles’ undefeated run through district competition.

Weatherford’s Lukas Loran wins the Catcher MVP for his success behind the plate this season.

In addition to his defensive success, Loran posted 28 hits and a batting average of .308 on offense.

Loran also recorded an on base percentage of .443 and posted 22 walks.

After the superlative winners comes the best of the rest on the All Parker County first and second teams.

With so many quality athletes in Parker County the difference between first, second and honorable mention are slim.

All superlative winners are also considered members of the first team.

The All Parker County Softball team will be published on Saturday, July 10.

Nominations for the softball team are still being taken and can be emailed to sports@weatherforddemocrat.com until the end of the day Wednesday.
