The Aledo High School Varsity Tennis team continued pre-season matches last week competing in a dual match with Abilene High School, and in the Duncanville Fall Team Tennis Tournament. Aledo, the only 5A school in competition, came away with wins at both venues.
In the dual match with Abilene High (2016 District 3-6A runner-up), Aledo clinched the victory (12-7) with strong singles play. The boys took 6 of 6 singles matches from Abilene.
At the Duncanville tournament, Aledo faced Duncanville High School (2016 District 7-6A Champion) in the first round of play and dominated (10-6) with a solid team performance. In the second round, Aledo faced Flower Mound High School (2016 District 6-5A runner-up). Three individual matches came down to set tiebreakers, and Aledo came out with the win in two of three tiebreakers to take the match 10-9.
Aledo faced Rockwall High School (2015 District 11-6A Champion) in the final round of the Duncanville tournament, and rolled to a match victory (13-4) and a Tournament Championship. Aledo improves their pre-season record to 4-1 overall, and they will face Paschal High School on Friday August 25th at 4 pm in the home opener at Aledo High School.
