The Aledo High School Varsity Tennis Team defeated Chisholm Trail 15-3 in the battle of the undefeated teams and the top spot in district 6-5A. This moves AHS to 6-0 on the year, and one game away from their 12th district championship.
Aledo set the pace in doubles’ play taking 5 of 7 matches from Chisholm Trail. Posting wins were the pairings of Lance McClure/Miles Grubbs (8-2), Alec Meendsen/Jared Kelm (8-0), James Young/Payton Neeley (8-2), Erin Davis/Olivia Key (8-3), and Carly Siddons/Concetta Ogden (8-6). Priscilla Schimming/Allison Dale (3-8) and the mixed doubles pairing of Tristyn Fambrough/John Llewellyn (6-8) lost in tough matches.
The Aledo girls were dominant in singles, winning five of six matches. Wins from came Davis (6-2, 6-4), Key (6-2, 6-0), Fambrough (6-4, 6-2), Siddons (6-0, 6-0) and Ogden (6-0, 6-3). In an additional match Dale (8-6) also posted a win for Aledo. Schimming (2-6, 0-6) lost to Chisholm Trail.
The AHS boys swept Chisholm Trail in singles with wins from Meendsen (6-3, 6-4), McClure (6-0, 6-4), Grubbs (6-2, 5-7, 10-7), Kelm (6-0, 6-0), and Young (6-0, 6-1). Neeley (7-4, 4-2) and Zach Leeper (7-7) were not able to complete their matches due to rain.
AHS will travel to Azle High School in the final district match of the fall season on Tuesday October 10th.
