The Aledo High School tennis team defeated a strong Wichita Falls Rider team (13-6) to secure second in District 4-5A. The AHS varsity team will go into post-season play for the 15th time in the past 17 years. Aledo heads into post season play with a #6 ranking in 5A Region 1, and #16 overall state ranking.
The ladies lead the way winning 3 of 3 doubles matches and 5 of 6 singles matches. Posting wins in doubles were the pairings of: Priscilla Schimming/Erin Davis (6-2, 6-1), Olivia Key/Concetta Ogden (6-1, 6-1), Allison Dale/ Katie Siddons (6-1, 6-3). Posting a win for the boys were Lance McClure/Miles Grubbs (6-1, 6-1), and James Young/Carly Siddons (6-0, 6-3) posting the final win for the doubles portion of the match in mixed doubles.
Posting wins in singles were: Key (6-3, 6-0), Davis (6-1, 6-3), C. Siddons (6-1, 6-1), K. Siddons (6-1, 6-2), Ogden (8-1), Grubbs (6-0, 6-0), Neeley (6-4, 6-4) and Llewellyn (6-4, 6-1). Aledo will advance to the first round of the playoffs and play a bi-district match on October 15th or 16th against Lubbock Coronado High School.
