The Aledo RacquetCats defeat the Wichita Fall Rider Coyotes 10-9
in the district Fall Team Tennis opener.
Aledo came out strong taking the lead 4-3 after the first round of doubles play.
Doubles partners for the boys line 1 Ian Leslie/Hogan Posey won in a nail biter
super tie breaker (6-3)(3-6)(10-8) posting the only boys doubles victory. In girls
doubles line 2 Maddie Farmer/Georgia Posey won (6-0)(6-0) and line 3
Cambell Charrier/Allie Farmer won as well (6-0)(6-0). The mixed doubles team of
Jax Joiner/Lyla Edwards also came away with a win (6-2)(6-3).
Aledo only needed 6 more victories to win the whole tournament. Three of the
singles matches came down to more super tie breakers. Girls won line 2 Olivia Key
(5-7)(6-3)(11-9), line 3 Maddie Farmer (6-1)(6-1), line 4 Cambell Charrier (1-6)(6-4)(10-7),
line 5 Georgia Posey (6-4)(6-3) and line 6 Allie Farmer (6-0)(6-0). In boy's singles line 2
Ian Leslie posted the only win with (6-3)(3-6)(10-8).
The RacquetCats are now 3-1 winning in previous pre-district matches against
Nolan Catholic High School and Abilene Cooper, their only loss comes from
Abilene Wylie who is ranked 6th in the state this year. Aledo will host Weatherford
High School Friday and Wichita Falls High Tuesday, September 29, both starting
at 4:00pm.
