The Aledo High School Tennis Team swept Azle High School 19-0 to finish with a perfect 7-0 record and the District 6-5A championship.
The doubles’ pairings started the final match with a perfect 7 wins. In girls’ doubles Nikki Adamie/Erin Davis (8-0), Courtney Andrews/Tristyn Fambrough (8-1) and Carly Siddons/Taryn Fambrough (8-3) all posted wins, and in boys’ doubles Jared Kelm/Miles Grubbs (8-2) and Ben Colvin/James Young (8-4), and Lance McClure/Tristan Trotter (8-2) posted wins as well. The mixed doubles pairing of Trey Fambrough/Priscilla Schimming (8-1) posted the final win for the first half of the match.
The Aledo girls were dominant with wins from Adamie (6-0, 6-1), Schimming (6-0, 6-0), Davis (6-1, 6-0), Siddons (8-2), Tr. Fambrough (8-4) and Ta. Fambrough (8-3). The AHS boys were equally as dominant in singles with wins from Kelm (6-1, 6-2), McClure (6-0, 6-1), Grubbs (6-2, 6-2), Fambrough (8-4), Young (8-1), Trotter (6-0, 6-1), and Colvin (6-0, 6-0).
By going undefeated in district, Aledo earns a bye in the district tournament to be played October 14. The team advances to the Area tournament with the first round at home on October 18th and semi’s and finals on October 21st.
