The Aledo Varsity Tennis Team is posed to start its district fall season at 7-3, with a 3 match winning streak behind them. The team faced Midlothian on August 9th and came away with a 11-8 win. On August 12th, the team won against Eaton with a 12-7 score and August 13th, posted 12-7 against Wichita Falls Memorial.
Midlothian proved to be a challenging competitor with many matches going to tie breakers, but Aledo prevailed. Boys Doubles Line 1 Jacob Heckathorn/Francois Britz (4-6, 7-5, 1-0) and Line 3 Noah Nottingham/Tom Ruminsky (6-3, 6-1) wins. In Girls Doubles, Line 2 McKinley Hayes/Lila Satterfield (8-6, 6-2) and Line 3 Eleanor Jack/Patrice Loftin (6-2, 6-3) were victories. Paxton/ Psencik and Natalie Nawrocki also won a challenging mixed doubles line (6-2, 7-5).
Boys’ singles with wins were Line 1 Jacob Heckathorn (6-2, 6-1), line 4 Francois Britz (6-2, 6-3) and Line 6 Paxton Psencik (6-3, 6-3). Posting wins for the girls’ singles were Line 3 Elli Kate Bussmeir (6-1, 6-1), Line 5 Sydney Byrd (1-6, 6-0, 1-0) and Line 6 Eleanor Jack (7-5, 6-1).
The team started their back-to-school week with a victory against Eaton High School. Two lines in boys doubles were wins, Line 1 Jacob Heckathorn/Francois Britz (6-2, 2-6, 1-0) and Line 2 Ben Kurth/Casen Freeland (6-3, 6-3). All double lines were by the girls’ teams with Line 1 Elli Kate Bussmeir /Bryanna Orr (6-3, 6-4), Line 2 McKinley Hayes/ Lila Satterfield (6-1, 6-1) and Line 3 Eleanor Jack/Natalie Nawrocki (6-2, 6-3).
Francois Britz won his singles at Line 4 in a tough tie-breaker match posting 2-6, 6-2, 1-0. All six lines were wins for the girls, Line 1 Lila Satterfield (6-0, 6-1), Line 2 Bryanna Orr (6-3, 7-5), Line 3 Elli Kate Bussmeir (6-2, 6-1), Line 4 McKinley Hayes (6-4, 4-6, 1-0), Line 5 Sydney Byrd (6-1, 6-2) and Line 6 Gracie Heydman (6-2, 6-2).
The following day Aledo prevailed against Wichita Falls Memorial with a 12-7 win. Line 2 Boy’s Doubles Ben Kurth/Casen Freeland won 9-8(4). Girls’ Doubles teams won all their lines with Line 1 Elli Kate Bussmeir/ Bryanna Orr 8-6, Line 2 McKinley Hayes/Lila Satterfield 8-1, Line 3 Eleanor Jack/Patrice Loftin 8-2. Mixed Doubles Paxton Psencik/Natalie Nawrocki also won their match at 8-5.
Boys singles secured two wins, Line 4 Francois Britz won 8-5 and Line 4 Casen Freeland won 8-2. Girls Singles won five of their lines, 1 Lila Satterfield 8-4, 2 Bryanna Orr 8-0, 3 Elli Kate Bussmeir 8-2, 4 Sydney Byrd 8-1 and 5 McKinley Hayes won by default.
Aledo will play its first district match at home against Brewer High School at 6:00 pm on August 20th. The following Tuesday, August 27 Varsity tennis will face Granbury High School at Granbury at 4:00 pm.
